You may be thinking… a sweater and shorts... in the summer?! I know it seems crazy, but think about how many times you go from 100 degree weather into a freezing air conditioned building and wish you had warmer clothes! This is why I am going to tell you how I wear a sweater and shorts in the summer. A sweater look is perfect for shopping, going to the movies (when will we do that again???), or even sitting inside a restaurant. Let’s look at how to style your favorite sweater for a chic summer look.
If you want to know how I wear a sweater in the summer without sweating to death then you need to find the perfect lightweight sweater. I love this animal print cardigan because of the 3/4 length sleeves and cotton blend material. It comes in several colors and is on sale. A cardigan is always a great option because you can easily put it on or take it off depending on the climate. Another option is to wear this short-sleeved sweater (comes in 13 colors) for an extra layer of warmth. I’m wearing my favorite flip flops in today’s post. This color is Licorice but I also have them in Custard (a fabulous nude color). They are perfect for the beach, running around and especially when you get a pedicure.
I also love Sail to Sable sweaters! I wore one on my Disney trip here. I wear a blouse underneath the sweater so that I can easily take it off and tie it around my shoulders for two cute options depending on the weather. Note, I’m wearing the sweater with shorts on that trip in February. Clearly, I do this often…
A tip for wearing a sweater in the summer is to pair it with shorts or a skirt. This still gives your sweater look a summer vibe. I love wearing these girlfriend shorts because of the length and comfort. For a dressier look, I recommend these embroidered shorts. If you have a solid colored sweater, then you will love this pleated skirt for a chic dinner look.
